The five-minute practice.
Tummy time, broken into pieces small enough to keep.
Tummy time helps prevent flat-head syndrome and builds the neck, shoulder, and core strength a baby needs to roll, sit, and crawl. Many newborns dislike it, and that is normal. The aim is not long sessions; it is frequent ones.
Try short bursts after every nappy change. Lie chest to chest with your baby on you so they can see your face. A rolled muslin under the chest gives gentle support. Aim for around thirty minutes a day by three months, broken up however suits you.
A quiet tip
A small mirror placed on the floor in front of your baby is one of the most effective tummy-time tools you will own.
